Brendan Dowling, Founder

Brendan Dowling is the founder and original visionary of io global ltd. As an experienced telecoms entrepreneur, Brendan has the perfect blend of financial, technology and strategy market development experience for the creation of a new service offering in the mobile arena.

Brendan’s career started in the business strategy and finance practices of KPMG and Coopers & Lybrand. He has owned and operated a number of companies. Brendan was the founder of Europe’s first MNVO, Imagine Mobile, which was sold to Vodafone in 2000. He then acted as Chief Commercial Officer for Ireland’s third mobile network operator, Meteor, before starting a new company Digital Versatile Media, which focused on delivering digital content from traditional broadcasters to mobile and PC customers. He sold this company to BT NVP to form io global ltd.

Bob DeSena, Managing Director, North America

Bob DeSena has been a change agent for more than twenty years. He has wide ranging management and strategic experience, having held senior management and marketing positions with both client and advertising agency organizations. 

Most recently he was Managing Partner, Director of Active Engagement for Mediaedge:cia where he led the Consumer Insights, Communications Planning and Analytics groups of MEC, integrating them into a new unit called the Strategic Services Group. 

Prior to that he created and was appointed Managing Director for Mars Direct (Masterfoods USA) with responsibility for brand sales in all direct to consumer channels.  He also led cross functional teams in the development of new marketing models with the launch of CocoaVia and My M&M’s.   

Earlier in his career Bob was Senior Vice President of Marketing Services for Time Life Inc. with responsibility for all marketing and media functions for the book, music and video divisions. From there he moved to a corporate role at Time Inc. as Vice President, New Media where he created the Marketing Applications Group, a specialized marketing services unit designed to assist Time Warner’s largest clients including General Motors and Procter & Gamble.

Peter Gandy, VP Broadband Services

Peter manages this go-to-market channel for the io global ltd, prior to joining, Peter held a variety of senior-level positions within BT plc. focused on introducing new network services, defining new market channels, and leading major corporate partnerships.

As Director 21CN - BT Group’s £10bn, 21Century Network transformation initiative - he was commercial lead, owning new service vision and execution, in synch with changing customer demands and market requirements.  Before that Peter conceived and implemented BT’s Web Service venture, gaining respect as a thought leader and participating in a number of advisory boards.  Within BT Openworld, Peter identified and implemented significant strategic partnerships on behalf of BT Group.

Before joining BT, Peter provided strategic leadership for a number of consumer product brands in his positions with THERMOS, Curver Consumer Products (owner of Europe’s leading housewares brand) and E&J Gallo Wines.

Paul Davis, VP Operations

Paul Davies joins io global ltd to lead the service design, project implementation and in-life support activities for the io™ me platform supporting the expanding ecosystem of constituents.  Paul’s unique blend of technology, strategy and operations execution ensure that new platform services can be operationalized to effectively accelerate revenue realization for service providers, advertisers and content producers alike.
 
Prior to joining io global ltd, Paul built a long and successful career with British Telecommunications.  His last role with BT was as Business Engagement Director where he was responsible for managing the IT relationship and delivery for British Telecom’s £2.3 Billion contract with the NHS.

The foundation of Paul’s career was built at BT over a period of 27 years.  For the majority of his time there, Paul held senior customer facing positions, building a successful portfolio of deployments throughout the world, including placements in New Zealand, Middle East, Africa and India.

Paul began his career in engineering, achieving a Master of Science degree in Telecommunications from UCL.  He has built on this knowledge and realised the title of Doctor of Business Administration from Cranfield University in June 2006.

Matt West, Managing Director, Emerging Markets

Matt is responsible for the development and execution of io global's emerging market strategies. The majority of Matt's role is centered on the development of close partnerships with mobile operators in key geographical areas.

Prior to joining io global ltd, Matt held a senior position with Alcatel-Lucent as Global Head of Content and Future Media. This role meant that Matt was responsible for the management and development of global relationships with media and content companies to enable and launch innovative revenue generating convergence focused video and audio services.
Previously, Matt was Director of enhanced TV for Chellomedia (UPC) interactive services, where he had responsibility for enhanced TV activity throughout Europe. In addition to Matt's extensive experience in delivering innovative mobile TV/video and music solutions, he gained enviable knowledge of broadcast media during his time as Head of Sales for NTL Broadcast Media Solutions (now Arqiva). During his time at NTL he oversaw their portfolio of solutions for major UK, American and European broadcasters.

Peter Northing, VP, Marketing

Peter Northing is responsible for defining and implementing the overall strategic marketing direction of io global ltd. In addition to the traditional elements of the marketing mix, this encompasses driving product propositions, developing businesses through digital retailing, and relentless focus on end-users to always deliver excellence in customer experience. His extensive, multi-industry experience in marketing and product development means he is known throughout the industry for pushing the boundaries of digital media.

Prior to joining io global ltd, Peter held the position of Director of Products and Service for renowned, market leading, network operator, 3. While at 3 Peter was responsible for the product development, product delivery, user experience, mobile advertising, mobile internet and ultimately the revenue / margin performance on the 3 portal - Planet 3.

The foundations of Peter's career began in the FMCG industry working for blue chip companies such as Coca Cola and Disney. Having gained experience with these global brands Peter moved into the online arena with QXL.com before successfully transferring his skills and knowledge to the telecommunications industry by joining Energis.
